Internship Ready
It is 7 days till my internship and I still have no clue where I am going. I am kind of playing the waiting game while my fate is decided by someone else. During my time at Year Up I have gained skills and built on skills I already had. Some of the skill I hope to display first is my computer skill. I have learned so much during my six month being at this program. I have both researched computers as well as learned how to troubleshoot them. I am hoping that I get to help image computers within the first 14 days of my internship. One question I am asking myself before internship is what skills will I be required to learn or what knowledge will I need to learn in order to be successful at internship. Knowing where I was going would help me with this but at this time the skills needed on the job would definitely be the second question I would have. From the beginning of the program I always thought I knew where I wanted to go, but as we start getting closer and closer to internship I have no idea where I want to go. The environment I would be comfortable in would be both laid back as well as business causal. I think I would work well under an internship manager that can guide me in the direction of success, someone that is going to show me how to do it the first time, and after that let me get to work on my own. I would like someone who is hands off when it comes to my work unless I ask for help.

Damian - it has been a pleasure having you in my classes. You are going to rock it on your internship. Just keep that professional attitude going and the motivation. Also having a fun and approachable personality works. You are going to do well. Please feel free to ask me any questions.
ReplyDeleteYour anxiety is normal. If you weren't freaking about your internship then I would be a bit worried. It shows me that you care about your internship.
Remember just be flexible, trainable and take notes and have a good professional attitude.
Keep me up to date.
